How lovely! it looks like a relative of the feather and fan pattern. It took me awhile to figure out charts -- the left right thing baffled me at first also. A night or two of sighs indeed. I like that you can see what you're doing in a chart, while a hand written instruction is such a mystery. Nice analogy.
