another friday, another five

ironymaidentoday was a rough day at work. i don't want to talk about it. or about the woman being prosecuted for refusing to have a C-section. or the mutilated three-year-old in Atlanta.
but after! stopping at Java Jazz is becoming a Friday tradition. nothing like a chocolate espresso bean and a sunshine sticker to lift my spirits - although i suppose the caffeine helps. while i got adjusted, C picked up some Diet Rite then we grabbed a pizza and hit the state store on the way home. unlike the Queen Anne store, this one stocks my favorite rum. a stupid kid came in with the guy he had buying him alcohol, and got turned away. the clerk told us the first time he sells underage he's fined $500, the next time it's $5000 and likely getting fired. we arrived home to a package. Heather sent us a "dog" to tide us over until we get a real one...it barks and does backflips. (i feel a strange urge to visit the wigsphere) AND two big bags of Twizzlers. i was just talking the other day about how much i wanted some Twizzlers. i shouldn't have the sugar, but the office is stocked with Red Vines and they're just...just...wrong. there was also a thank you card for being all hosty while she was here and a promise to visit for pleasure. yay.
so we just had rum and diet rite and pizza and snuggled while watching Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. i enjoyed it, and i'm sorry that i didn't see it sooner, but i listened to the reviews. and i'm confused, because it was easy to follow, and the characters were as developed as anyone gets in a sci-fi action movie. certainly not as obtuse as anime can be, but still capturing that intersection of mysticism and dystopia. piss poor marketing, bad choice of clips in the trailers. i appreciate getting too caught up in the story to notice how complex the animation is. C did wish that just once, the military strongman bad guy could live to see that he was wrong.

C, the state store clerk, the Papa Murphy's girl, Jenna, Dr Hanson
