1944 Spain. Franco has won, WWII is raging elsewhere, and the fascists are cleaning up resistance groups in the countryside.
a little girl moves to her stepfather's post, along with her pregnant mother. and then we get into what i don't know how to describe without spoilers. there's a fairytale quest. it's grim and beautiful. i never knew what would happen next. the R is for violence.

OOO. Made by Guillermo del Toro. That's reason enough to see it. I loved his The Devil's Backbone...
