rain makes the moss green

the_monkey_king commented today that he wished the weather would improve. i think the rain is pretty.

in other news, we appear to have a patch of stuff blooming in the backyard that grows as a wildflower in profusion where i grew up. i don't know why we have it, but i'm pleased. nothing smells quite like it, and they wilt almost immediately if you cut them. i have pics of them on flickr.

for some reason the humidity feels wonderful...

We have those! The phlox that is. Growing under the back porch of all places. They haven't bloomed yet (probably because they're under the back porch) but I always associate their smell with tobacco (the dry kind not the burning kind).
