When the Toastmaster Talks Less
Aug. 2nd, 2020 09:39 pmi tried to watch the Hugos live, but i only made it to the first winner - GRRM rambling was just excruciating, and apparently i tuned out before he really went off the deep end. but tonight i'm watching the When the Toastmaster Talks Less edit, and it is God's work. the edit still includes GRRM putting ugly emphasis on "the ASTOUN-DING award" *eyeroll* but on the nice side has a little feature about the base of this year's rocket from the artist.
really i just wanted to see Neil Gaiman's acceptance speech for Good Omens. <3 <3 <3 i complain about Gaiman for his uneven work, but his love for Terry Pratchett is so pure and good and touching. it's at 1:03:00 in the video linked above. but i am glad i stayed for Mary Robinette Kowal blowing GRRM out of the water as a presenter, Jeanette Ng's emotional and fiery acceptance speech for an award for the speech that renamed the Campbell, Max Gladstone & Amal Al-Mohtar burbling, and Arkady Martine's speech about being made welcome.
