Impressionistic biopic of Brian Wilson, cutting back and forth between the 60s and 80s. Excellent sound design and soundtrack. Solid performance by John Cusack as the older Wilson. It's a lionsgate film, assume it will release soon. If I have my headphones,  I need to listen to Pet Sounds on the way home.

It's about teens from the worldwide Korean diaspora going to Korean culture camp, in the 80s. The style is an homage to John Hughes and Amy Heckerling films. It sang to me as someone who had transformative summer camp experiences, and a close relationship with a Korean adoptee and her white parents trying to do the right thing.
It had great heart and a good feel for the intensely awkward nature of teen experience. It also had a great soundtrack. I thought it was delightful,  even though some scenes made me cringe with their truthiness.
No distributor, in spite of great response at Sundance. Sadly,  it's no great surprise that a film that is mostly in  English with an all Asian and mixed race cast "isn't marketable" :'(
They've given up, but Seattle is one of their self-distribution targets. And the cast is going to be there when they come back. Damn, the Korean - German guy is hot.

Was great. It won both the jury and the audience award at Sundance, so it's well-documented and will show up at a theater near you.
I still managed to go in unspoiled, and I encourage anyone watching it to do the same. It's about loving movies, and bad jokes, and friendship. It's filmed in Pittsburgh, playing Pittsburgh for once. Do watch. bring tissues. I swear that it is earned and not the easy shit you would expect.
