2004 in film

inspired by others' year end lists, i decided to do my own, and discovered that it was rather a more complicated task than expected - i've seen more movies in the theater in 2004 than probably ever; i felt the need to count everything i saw, not just the 2004 release dates. i went through 2004 release lists, my old posts (my Memories section is much expanded now) and the SIFF website, and i still feel like i missed a few. but fear not, i'm not nearly as dedicated as webcowgirl or frabjousdave.

washed clean

this was one of the best New Years Eves i've ever had.

scarletbronte and loloc opened their home to a group of ideal size (i'm not going to list all dozen or so here - suffice it to say that i was delighted to see each and every one of them), and we did all kinds of nothing. loloc made steaks on the grill, amheriksha created art with cheese, there were a very few well-placed drinks, and mostly we talked about everything from building ownership in the ID, to police dog training, to our favorite Doctor (Who), to just how one should pronounce Aleister Crowley. we had breaks for tarot readings from mimerki, a champagne/ sparkling cider toast. the burning of hell money, and finally a long soak in the hot tub with mimerki and scarlettina.
there was something absolutely perfect about settling into the steaming tub in the damp chill, the water pouring over the sides as we displaced it, with the lightest kiss of rain sparkling in our hair. the sky was too overcast for the moon and stars, but we still had the shadows of tall pines and the popping of distant fireworks. i found myself feeling clean and unrestrained for the first time in a few months, floating there. this was the best time i've had at scarletbronte's and i can't wait to do it again.
