as i like it
Nov. 14th, 2004 11:17 amyesterday morning i went on the coffee run. i love the early stirrings on our street, seeing Craig heading up to Crow with a latte in hand and golden retriever in tow to receive crates of produce, the baristas at Vita chatting about birthdays and promoting their craft show while pulling my usual order without prompting and tossing a biscuit to the eager shaggy white dog waiting expectantly at the gap in the counter, and finally looking up at the cones full and ripe on the branches of my building's huge pine tree.
C and i lounged and geeked (manga for me, painting minis for him) and enjoyed the bounty from our trip to Scarecrow for the rest of the day. then off to dinner and two plays.
As You Like It at Seattle Shakes was excellent, and the parody cabaret following was probably the best of the three i've seen and featured (for the first time ever) the entire cast. almost everyone involved was new to the company, and i hope to see several of them on stage in Seattle again. Jaques and Rosalind were particularly fine. and now there are mixed drinks at concessions. i my only quibble was that nobody had ironed the ladies' court dresses all weekend. otherwise, entirely artistically pleasing. okay, sometimes they spoke just a touch too fast. but only sometimes. i'm sorry i couldn't have seen it earlier in the run to recommend it to people - but i have to go on cabaret night. three show subscriptions are still available. they're more fun than a basket of puppies.
