get on the bus
Feb. 3rd, 2004 11:16 pmtonight i realized that most of the words i know in spanish are curses.
i also saw a bus driver choose not to accept a passenger they judged to be potentially disruptive and dangerous. unfortunately, the cursing spanish speaker was then left to rant at my stop until the next bus came.
he had been trying to get the driver to let him in the back door, which they don't do at night, since the ride free hours are over at seven and you have to pay or show your card or transfer or whatever. he then started kicking the bus and shouting at the top of his lungs. the bus stopped and he went up to the front door, kicking and shouting all the way, and the driver apparently took a good look at him and decided to not let him get on.
i think the gist of his shouting was that he couldn't get in the back door because Americans are racists to latinos and they always ask "what country are you from?" but it's okay to be black or white. there was also a lot of "puta"s flying, so the driver who didn't let him on was female, i think. plus he had that rocking thing going on. but, i must say that he just shouted while he waited, showed a valid transfer and got on my bus, where he shouted till he reached another transfer point that would get him to Capital Hill, then he thanked the driver and went raving into the night.
