How do you feel about other variations? Grrl, etc.

Personally, I'd rather not be called any variation of the word, because I'm 34 and haven't been a "girl" in decades.

I really wish there was a good word that you could use to indicate a woman that was casual but respectful and didn't have all that extra baggage (the 'guy' equivalent); I'd be all for reviving 'gal' if not for the fact that my elementary school gym teacher used it.

I dig "chick". But I might be alone in that. I like "girl" for me, but that's just because I generally feel like a little kid pretending to be a grown-up. It seems a lot more casual than "Woman", too. "Lady" is horrible and should be avoided at all costs.
