leaving unedited lightly edited for posterity. oy, the junk formatting kind of kills the surprisingly good OCR. so much for the startlingly simple solution. I can get a text file attachment instead of embedding it in the email so that's probably the right way to approach writing myself a service. well, I was thinking that I needed a project...

the #s are accurate OCR of my handwriting - it's rocketbook shorthand to designate the title of the file it saves.

It's a nifty idea -- but is this really that much better than a paper notebook?

There's a smartphone app from Microsoft called Seeing AI which does excellent OCR from handwriting.

MS have cleverly recruited tech-savvy blind people to provide feedback on their machine vision project.

the book itself? yes. even without the cloud service, it's wet-erasable. so it's one notebook that never gets used up. i take a LOT of disposable notes - reminders, checklists, etc that don't need to be preserved for posterity and i'm on track to save a lot of paper.
