GBBO, Doctor Who, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and The Good Place.
last week GBBO was reality tv bullshit complete with manufactured drama and pushing controversy and lots of intrusive shots of bakers crying. not in the spirit of GBBO at all and i'm concerned that after a pretty nice first season on Channel 4 that they've taken the gloves off and will ruin what was the purest and sweetest show on tv. but this week was back to form and I will be happy with anyone winning the final. they've all grown on me and are quite evenly matched.
meanwhile, the Rosa Parks episode of Who was not cringey like i feared (the Doctor did not lecture Rosa Parks or MLK, there were no nice local white people to soften things, and there was a nice scene where Ryan and Jaz got to commiserate about their experience of racism in present-day England). they even made clear that Parks was an activist.
CxG continues to kill it - what is scarier than laying in bed at night thinking about a mistake you made 20 years ago?
and yes, we've been watching Monthy Python on and off. it's remarkable (but shouldn't be surprising) how much of it i do remember and just how much it has influenced my sense of humor. The Larch
what did you recently finish?
I watched three episodes of Star Wars Resistance and won't be watching any more. Perhaps the show will find itself later. early Clone Wars didn't do much for me, and it took a while for Rebels to find its center, but i actively hate the POV character in Resistance. Kaz is the worst, and it's pretty clear that the privileged dude will Learn a Valuable Lesson and Become a Better Person by causing pain and loss to blue collar folks: women, aliens, and POC. i get that he's supposed to be a child in a young adult body and that the show is supposed to be for children but what i see is Pinocchio meets Brock Turner. it's a disappointment to me since i'm perfectly happy with a Jedi-free story in the Star Wars universe, and the supporting ensemble all seem fun and interesting. someone let me know when there's a Kaz-lite episode.

i've forgotten to watch the Flarrowverse shows. i guess i should finish last season of The Flash first...
