this concept, of scoring Highlander with MOAR QUEEN was one that I couldn't resist. it was often delightful, drowning out weak dialogue and allowing the flashy music video visuals to shine. but it was also lazy - with access to the full Queen catalog, there was way too much of the Flash Gordon soundtrack. I felt like they couldn't decide if they wanted to lean into humor or grandness, deep cuts or greatest hits. the sting at the end was playing Bohemian Rhapsody over the credits instead of the original Queen track. fuck you DJ, I love A Kind of Magic and you couldn't even work it into the scenes that inspired it. that said, fun experience, glad I went, off to listen to some Queen.
