Awesome! I was planning to skip it, because the trailers made it look like a well-executed bog-standard heist movie that just happens to feature a dude on the spectrum. I take it there's more to it than just that?

almost the entire film is cut to music, and i assume was filmed to music because they credit a choreographer but there's no dancing.

i had no interest in this one on the face of it either. the title alone gives me hives. but i have a deep love for Edgar Wright, so i gave it a try. the way i described it to C was that watching this felt the way that watching Pulp Fiction for the first time felt.

after i saw it, i paged through some negative reviews (i do that when something knocks me over) and they tended to complain about scenes where they completely missed key details. it does a lot of showing-not-telling.

but it is a heist movie. and i wouldn't have characterized Baby as on the spectrum but i can see how you would get there.

watching this felt the way that watching Pulp Fiction for the first time felt.

Sold. PF may not have aged well for me, but ye gods it was a revelation the first time I saw it.

Not on the spectrum, as far as I can tell. And it's a series of chase scenes. Much like Mad Max was a series of chase scenes. The awesomeness is in how it's done, rather than what it is.

Correction cheerfully accepted! I was basing that perception entirely off of the one trailer.

And "extremely well-done chase scenes" works for me.
