with the Space Needle, in the living room
Feb. 4th, 2005 07:59 pmwhen i first arrived in Seattle, i had a simple pathfinding mantra - "Space Needle = home." if i could see the Space Needle, i could dead reckon my way back to my tiny abode. it continues to be a cheerful beacon to me, hovering like a flying saucer over Queen Anne while traveling south on Aurora, or popping into view as i round the shoulder of the hill on the way home from work, growing ever larger until the perfect view is achieved in my parking space. sometimes it's orange on top. sometimes there are stars and stripes. once there was an inflatable green thing on it. i've always thought of it as rather perky. friendly. homey.
tonight i was horrified to discover it appeared to have been DIPPED IN BLOOD, as if my favorite stabby landmark had been used for, well, stabbing.
i now know it's for a good cause but it's scaring me.
