spazzychic asks: What is the most notable thing that has changed for you this last year?

i used to choke down entire books that i thought might eventually get better, sometimes even their sequels (like all the damn Mayfair Witches books, which did not magically realize their potential just because i soldiered on). i've finally learned to stop when i don't like something. take the book back to the library, stop watching one more episode, send that disc back to Netflix, walk out of the film, etc. it's not that i'm less patient or that i'm not giving things a chance anymore, they just don't get several.

i think it's part of a growing awareness that i'm older, old enough to value my time, old enough to take pleasure in having no grey hairs (yet), old enough to have nice things and nice experiences. my life isn't happening in the distant future, it's happening now.
